Perspective

A flea’s view of the back of a dog.
Some dying moss on the side of a log.
The green tinged roots would look funny on a lass.
Do you think it might be some fountain grass?

White Flowers

Bring me white flowers,
alive and brimming with light.
Set them before my door,
just at railing’s height.
Let them glow in the evening,
and be first up at dawn,
sustenance to my sight,
or nourishment for a fawn.

Home Sweet Home

“Wipe your feet!”
“Honey, we live in a hole in a rock.”
“Look, if we’re going to advance, we have to start somewhere.
We’re starting by wiping our feet before we step into our hole
in the rock.”

Garden Gnome

We recently installed several bird feeders in the dogwood tree in our front yard.
They’ve proven pretty popular with the local finches, sparrows, blackbirds, doves, etc.
I decided there were so many birds taking advantage of our largess that they needed a guardian.
I’ve every confidence in the little guy. He even sings while watching over
the birds, although I must say his song selection tends toward the melodramatic.
The first one went something like this: “Gnomebody knows the trouble I’ve seen…”
